Obtaining Paxsoft

Where to Find Paxsoft

You can obtain Paxsoft by visiting http://www.Paxsoft.net/ and registering a userid and password at the My Account -> Registration page, accessible via the main menu. I am not going to describe to you the individual steps you need to take; it's a fairly standard shopping cart that most people should be familiar with so I will not insult your intelligence.

When you have placed your order you will find that an invoice has been created against your account. View the invoice to purchase Paxsoft (if you are purchasing a full license) Once you've chosen your payment method and made your payment (regardless of whether or not you've purchased a full license or a trial license) you will now find that a license key has been created for you and Paxsoft will be available to download when you view your license. This key is important, save a copy of it somewhere, as it leads to the first point that you need to learn about Paxsoft: when you purchase a license to use Paxsoft, you're actually purchasing the key, it's the status of the key that determines how long you can use the license for. Paxsoft itself is the same regardless of whether or not you have a full or trial license, Developer or Solo version.

Downloading Paxsoft

Before you download Paxsoft, you will need to decide which flavour you will need. You can have either Zend encryption or ionCube encryption. Which you choose depends on your server configuration so if in doubt, please ask your hosts. If you can use either then it is recommended that you use the ionCube encoded version.

Paxsoft is available as either an executable installer, or as a zip file. The recommended installation method is the executable installer. This is because Paxsoft requires that ionCube loaders be installed on the host that you will be running it from, and wherever possible the executable will try to install the ionCube loaders for you (if you are using the ionCube encrypted version). If you use Windows, and your ftp method to your host is normal ftp (not secure ftp) then I strongly recommend that you use the executable to perform the installation. There is no spyware or adware of any kind in the executable (if you need more information on the installer please visit the ionCube Package Foundry page) and there's a good chance that it will be able to install the loaders (if using ionCube) required to run Paxsoft.

What are the Loaders? (applies to ionCube encoded versions of Paxsoft)

The loaders are used to encrypt two files within Paxsoft. If we didn't encrypt some files then it would be trivial for anybody with a little PHP knowledge to bypass the licensing system and use Paxsoft for free. In the past we have used other encryption software that didn't require loaders but it didn't take long for decrypted copies of Paxsoft to start circulating through the warez sites dotted around the web. To enable us to continue providing updates we have been forced to implement a license system and encryption.

The first encrypted file is "install_Paxsoft.php". This file is encrypted purely to ensure that any encoder issues are detected during the install phase, rather than later on when you want to actually use Paxsoft. The other encrypted file is "integration.php". All other files within Paxsoft are open source. This means that you can see the source, and edit them if you need to.

If you are having problems finding a host that is suitable I can highly recommend United Hosting. Their services are excellent and they are very fast at responding to support tickets. Their servers are also configured so that apache runs as the account user, meaning that you're less likely to run into permissions issues when you want to edit files via ftp.
